Memphis Belle - The Untold Story - Part 1

The Fighting Lady - A must-see movie! Produced in 1944, this award winning film documents life aboard an anonymous aircraft carrier operating in the Pacific. Because of wartime security restrictions the name of the ship was only later revealed to be the USS Yorktown. You are given a personal insight into the lives of the pilots and crew of the aircraft carrier who carried out these dangerous missions in the Pacific during World War II. You get to know the airmen personally and experience what they must have felt during the stress under which they performed their bombing missions. The aerial combat footage alone will leave you mesmerized! The footage is absolutely spectacular as you fly with the combat pilots on their many bombing missions. The scenes of anti-aircraft fire, enemy planes exploding into flames as they are shot down, ships being fired upon, and the precarious landing of a plane coming in at 130 mph to land aboard the ship’s deck will take your breath away!  61 minutes.

The Dambusters Raid

The Dambusters Raid - On May 17th. 1943 the Royal Air Force carried out one of the most remarkable raids ever undertaken by any aircrew. On that night a squadron of Lancaster heavy bombers flew at low level across a blacked out Europe, towards the four great dams that delivered water and power to the German industrial heartland of the Ruhr. The aircrews had been trained for months to carry out this most daring and courageous of raids. Against a storm of anti-aircraft fire, they calmly flew their bombers in across the reservoirs, holding a specific height and speed, to deliver their strange cylindrical bouncing bombs, to explode against the face of the dams, and blow great holes in them. The factories of the Ruhr were crippled. 1300 German civilians died, and 53 aircrew were lost. For the very first time this programme explores both sides of a raid that has become an epic in the history of World War 2. 52 minutes
